Well and truly gutted for the players (Coaches comments after the game), Todays RGC Cup under 13's qtr final game between Mold u13 and Bro Ffestiniog u13 was a great game to watch as a netural, but heart breaking as Mold coach, without a doubt we played lovely rugby with the forwards dominating the breakdown with some great calls from flyhalf Oakley Wynn-Jones to get the ball moving and opening the score through outside centre Jack Smith for a 5 - 0 lead, again posession and field posituon was all in the Bro Ffestiniog half until some good hands from Bro Ffestiniog opened a hole in the Mold defence leaving the Bro number 8 to run in for they first try to take a 5 - 7 lead, again Mold took the fight to Bro and continued to dominate in open play and at the breakdown for the remainder of the half, HT Mold 5 - 7 Bro Ffestiniog.
The second half started as the first half finished with Mold on the front foot as the half progreesed and Bro finding a footing at the scrum, it was a turn in fortunes that Bro needed, Mold started to lose the set piece and some poor tackling allowed Bro to run in four tries with only one convertated, Mold held onto their emotions and acknowledging that the tie was over they played for pride and fun and in the last 4 minutes of the gameran in two tries from Jack Smith with Rhys Cochran scoring a conversation and a quick drop conversation, unfortuantley with only one minute of normal time remaining it was a challenge to far to recover.
Mold would like to wish Bro Ffestiniog success in future rounds of this years RGC Cup.
