May/June 2020 Club Update

Dear Members,

This updates comes 10 weeks into our Corona lockdown. Hopefully the Welsh government will soon announce some good news and that there may be some light at the end of the tunnel. Safety and our health remains the number one priority, then comes normality, socialisation, work and the wider economy. We trust that all are well and are able to cope in such unprecedented times.

Some form of rugby interaction may be allowed in the not so distant future. World rugby have announced some plans of reintegration, but like most activities this may look somewhat different from the  traditional format.

For those that have ventured down the club, whilst shopping at our neighbouring stores, you will have noticed that the club has not stood still during lockdown. The 4G pitch has recently passed all the WRU testing procedures and the surrounding area has also had a makeover. The new pathway around the 4G pitch will allow, those observing, better access and will reduce the need of non participants to access the pitch (this is important as only certain footwear is permissible on the surface).

The paddock area has been totally resurfaced and reseeded so that it can be used as a safe and more usable training and playing area. The Leadmills has been cut regularly to ensure that it remains in a good condition. The main pitch has been top dressed and reseeded. All of this preparation will ensure that when rugby is given the green light we are able to play on safe and the best surfaces possible. Massive thanks to all involved in these significant improvements (see attached pictures).

A new kit supplier is also being sourced, so that our teams will also look the part on the pitch. More news on this next month.

At the moment end of season presentation events cannot be announced, but we will recognise the efforts and achievements of the players and coaches in some way, either live or via a virtual platform. The clubs AGM’s (including junior & mini’s) also need to take place before October. Therefore we have some time, and we will keep members informed of dates and times of these events in due course.

The commercial team are still driving forward with their plans and have even managed to source sponsorship deals despite the current economic climate, which is very impressive. The win a car, club raffle, was going very well prior to lockdown and I’m pleased to hear that sales are continuing. Selling of tickets maybe difficult at the moment, but people are managing by using the internet as a sales resource and taking pictures of stubs to paying customers. We are very resourceful at Mold RFC. If you would like more tickets or need more information please contact: sponsorshipmoldrfc@gmail.com

As stated last month we are hugely appreciative of members who continue to support the club through paying their subscriptions. As a thank you we promised to organise a monthly draw. We recently had a virtual trustees meeting and within that we used a random number generator.  An excel document of all the direct debits was used and the number 285 was selected by the generator which corresponded to Sarah Thomas, mother of Callum Williams, who is a  player in the under 15’s. £50 will be deposited into their account. Congratulations.

Please keep in touch with each other and if you need any help or support  please don't hesitate to contact us.

To all our community, our members and families,  keep safe and healthy.
